Building Businesses From the Bottom Up

At Universal Outreach we believe in helping people every step of the way. That’s why we don’t just offer skills and training, but also support in implementing and practising those new skills. Taanaetta R Wolokolie is one of the many entrepreneurs who have turned to UOF for training and later for a loan to grow her business. Her story is one that illustrates our deep commitment to empowering entrepreneurs throughout the life cycle of a business.

Taanaetta has done the Business Development Program and taken out a loan with us

Taanaetta owns a beauty salon in Monrovia. She attended our Business Development Program last year before she opened her business in June. She told us about how the course equipped her with the skills to open her salon. Not only did the course give her practical skills in how to run a business, it also gave her that all-important confidence to take the leap of faith. “It taught me so much. It showed me that I am ready to go into business and that I can manage all my own funds,” she said.

The invaluable skills she learned in managing her business’s finances made her a good candidate for our Mastercard Loan Program. Taanaetta’s dream is to open a mall-like complex offering entertainment, a salon, interior design and a mini mart. But every dream starts small and needs to be nurtured. So she took out a small loan of $1265 with us to buy products for her salon. Her new collection of beauty products increased her offering and bolstered her reputation as a skilled beautician. “Business is much better than before,” she said.

Moreover, Taanaetta's journey is not confined to her current success. She envisions further growth and excellence, harbouring a desire to delve into the realm of interior design. To realise this aspiration, she plans to enrol in the Interior Design Course at Strive, a testament to her unwavering commitment to continuous learning and advancement. Adding another string to her bow, she hopes to one day open her mall-like complex and oversee the functioning of her business while also sharing her knowledge through training programs.

Taanaetta's story serves as a testament to the transformative power of comprehensive support and tailored assistance offered by Universal Outreach. As we celebrate her achievements, we reaffirm our dedication to nurturing dreams and fostering entrepreneurial success, one step at a time.
