Education costs money and dependency on others is never an ideal situation. We encourage the schools we work with to move along the road of self-sustainability. To do this we have agreed to provide financing for viable projects that produce revenue to assist schools with reaching their operational budget on an ongoing basis.
The students there are reclaiming a dormant lagoon and converting it into six manageable pond sites. Having six ponds, with two harvests a year at each pond, allows for 6 harvests of Tilapia fish each year. This means approximately 5040 lbs of fish every year that will be sold locally and used to feed the kids at El Hogar and St. Mary’s Technical School!
